On April 28,2014 while at home with his loving wife Rose and some close friends Billy sadly succumbed to Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Though his passing leaves a huge hole in our lives the spirit he embodied lives on with us. The Friends of Billy Cravens and the entire Cravens family would like to say thank you to all who helped us through the tough times with your love and support. We will never forget your help and will always hold you close to our hearts.
Thank You, Thank you,
The Friends of Billy Cravens would like to say “thank you” to everybody who had a part in making the party at The Canton Town Club on January 18, 2014 a tremendous success. due to your participation we were able to reach our goals of showing Billy how much he is love by his friends and his community and to raise some funds to assist Billy and Rose with the long battle ahead. From our biggest contributors to the small children who donated money raised selling lemonade we want you to know that every single one of you holds a place in our hearts. Seeing the love you have shown to the entire Cravens Family is something we will never forget and always treasure. Once again from the bottom of all of our hearts we would like to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
If you live or grew up in Canton chances are good that you know Billy Cravens. If you raised your kids in Canton odds are good they know him too. Whether it was preparing the fields that they play on, setting up or running the venues for Fourth of July celebrations or Town Block Parties, or just cheering them on at sporting events Billy has had a positive effect on your children’s lives. To know Billy is to love Billy, or as an old friend of ours would say “if you can’t get along with Billy then you just can’t get along.” Billy and his wife Rose have always been the first ones to help out a friend in need but now they need our help. This past spring those of us who love Billy received the devastating news that he is suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis a disease better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. If you know anything about ALS you know there is no cure but that doesn’t mean that they won’t fight. Like any family facing such a battle Billy and Rose will need the help of their many friends. Billy and Rose treasure your moral support and many prayers but as medical costs escalate and wages are lost financial help will also be needed. Many of you have already helped and it is greatly appreciated but this is one of the rare diseases where you hope for a long road ahead. A fund raising party was held Saturday night January 18, 2014 at the Canton Town Club. The evening turned out to be a wonderful opportunity for Billy’s many friends to celebrate their friendships while helping out the cause. If you were unable to participate in this fun event but would still like to help you can do so by visiting our Donations page. We also have some other ideas that we will be revealing in the future to help out this terrific guy whose smile alone has gotten many of us through a bad time. Please keep checking back for more information on how you can help. Remember no prayer is too short and no contribution is too small!
